This Ohio Blue cornmeal is farmer Vaughn’s favorite. This variety is notably sweeter than the original yellow, and is packed with antioxidants as well as almost double the digestible protein of conventional varieties (according to our independent lab results). This variety of corn wasa being grown in Ohio in the early 1900s, when our SchoolHouse was still being used, so it has a special history on our farm.
Use it to hand-craft your own cornbread (that comes out blue!), for biscuits and pancakes, or to make George Washington’s favorite breakfast, Johnny Cakes. At SchoolHouse, our corn varieties are always non-GMO.
