100% Pure Lavender Oil

Lavender oil is an essential oil extracted from the lavender flower. The name lavender derives from the Latin verb “lavare,” meaning “to wash.” And while cultivated worldwide, lavender originates in the Mediterranean, Russia, and the Arabian Peninsula.

Here at SchoolHouse Farms, we extract the lavender oil from the flowers using steam distillation. We boil water and pass the resulting steam through a compacted bed of lavender flowers; the steam vaporizes the oil, which is then cooled along with the steam in a condenser and collected in a separatory funnel. The lavender oil is decanted from the water and packaged.

Some of the uses of lavender oil include aromatherapy, massage with carrier oil, bath water, pillow spray, skin care, inhalation, and as an ingredient in all-purpose cleaners.
